Inside Spring Hill, Issue #042
May 11, 2026
Big decisions are on the table in Hernando County this week. Commissioners meet Tuesday morning to consider declaring Hernando a “BACK THE BLUE” county, review disaster housing plans using county travel trailers, discuss transportation funding, and hear updates on the Weeki Wachee River restoration project.
The packed agenda also includes discussions tied to emergency preparedness, ambulance service renewals, legislative priorities, and public safety initiatives that could directly affect residents across the county.
Outside the government headlines, local events are keeping the week moving. Charity golf, line dancing, book clubs, open mic comedy, karaoke, live music, and community meetups are filling the calendar across Spring Hill and Brooksville.
And for local sports fans, the final SharkCast Sports Edition of the school year wraps up with a featured softball highlight from Nature Coast Technical High School.
Busy week ahead. Probably a good time to know what’s happening before everyone else starts arguing about it on Facebook.

News & Information
Declaring Hernando County a "BACK THE BLUE" county for law enforcement tops a packed agenda for Commissioners this Tuesday, May 12, at 9:00 am. Local leaders will also review significant plans for disaster housing relief using county travel trailers and hear an update on the Weeki Wachee River's crucial submerged aquatic vegetation restoration project. These decisions directly affect public safety, emergency preparedness, and the health of our natural resources.
Commissioners meet at the John Law Ayers Commission Chambers in the Hernando County Courthouse. They also consider renewing Tampa General Hospital Aeromed's ambulance service certificate. They will establish key priorities for the 2027-2028 state legislative session and discuss public transportation funding through grant agreements. Numerous proclamations are also on the docket, recognizing National Hospital Week, EMS Week, Florida Emancipation Day, ALS Awareness, Beef Month, and Water Safety Month. They will also set a special assessment rate for the Rainbow Woods Traffic Calming Municipal Service Benefit Unit.
With so many vital issues on the table, which decisions will leave the biggest mark on our community this week?

An AWESOME Softball Highlight leads the final SharkCast Sports Edition of the school year, airing the Week of May 11th.
This marks the conclusion for the dedicated Sports Edition. For continued softball updates, listeners should turn to the School Information SharkCast next week.
Will the School Information SharkCast pick up exactly where the Sports Edition left off, or will it offer a new look at the team's progress?
