Heads up, Hernando County drivers: Overnight left lane closures hit US 98 / SR 50 (Cortez Blvd.) this week, starting Sunday.
Road construction closes one left lane in each direction near the Mondon Hill Road and Spring Lake Highway intersection. Crews will work nightly from 8 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., Sunday, June 7, through Thursday, June 11.
Commuters driving these routes during late-night or early-morning hours should brace for potential delays or consider alternative paths. How will these temporary night works impact your daily drive?

Florida’s only spring-fed water park gears up for a major summer kickoff June 6, as Weeki Wachee Springs State Park’s Buccaneer Bay hosts its returning Beach Bash. The popular event invites local family and friends to an evening filled with live entertainment and distinctive beachside fun.
Organizers promise attendees a chance to "kick off summer" with an atmosphere rich in "great music, good vibes, and plenty of fun in the sun." This much-anticipated gathering, set at the park's unique spring-fed destination, aims specifically to create "unforgettable memories" for all participants. It presents a prime opportunity for the community to connect and enjoy the onset of the warmer season.

Tracking neighborhood issues just got a significant upgrade for Hernando County residents, who now have a new online system for code compliance requests. This promises easier reporting and real-time updates, making the entire process more efficient.
Hernando County retired the previous Comcate system for new submissions, so residents can no longer use it. However, the county successfully transferred all requests filed through the old system to a Code Compliance Officer for review. The new digital portal streamlines the entire compliance process, letting residents quickly submit concerns and then follow their status more efficiently from start to finish.
Ready to report? Residents just need to visit www.hernandocounty.us/public-safety/code-compliance/, create an account, and report a violation. Will this direct, online approach finally clear up those lingering neighborhood nuisances and boost transparency?
