Twenty-five million dollars now bolsters future careers in healthcare and high-tech fields right here in Dade City. Pasco-Hernando State College officially opened the 27,000-square-foot Wilton Simpson Science & Innovation Center on June 16, directly addressing our region's evolving workforce demands.
The new center houses programs like Emergency Medical Technician training, complete with a mock ambulance, alongside Unmanned Vehicle Systems and Robotics instruction. It also supports Engineering Technology degrees and Automation certificates, providing hands-on learning environments our students need for high-demand jobs. Commissioner Wilton Simpson, a proud PHSC alumnus, championed this project, securing the $25 million funding while serving as Senate President. He recognized the urgent need for investment in vocational education, sciences, and healthcare, especially addressing nursing shortages during the pandemic.
PHSC leaders emphasize the center will adapt and grow with technology, continuously building the workforce of tomorrow. What new industries will this cutting-edge facility help us attract to our community next?

Remembering why you walked into a room tops one local dad's Father's Day wish list this year. Barry Lewis, 66, finds his desires have shifted from ties and mugs to practical comfort and cherished memories. He now yearns for simple things like locating his reading glasses, a dog-free good night's sleep, and freedom from household chore guilt. This personal reflection offers a relatable glimpse into the minor frustrations and simple joys defining later-life celebrations.
Lewis fondly recalls his own father's Sunday morning breakfast tradition in their Brooklyn kitchen. His dad, an entertainer, cooked pancakes, LEO, or even kippers and onions, creating lasting aromas and memories that surpassed the food itself. These moments built connection, featuring small talk about the Mets, friends, and work. Lewis still dreams of a cool convertible, the Mets in the World Series, and world peace.
Like his own father, Lewis tells his three sons the greatest gift is seeing them grow into the adults they've become. This timeless sentiment reveals what truly matters on Father's Day, far beyond any material possession. What cherished memories will you make this Father's Day?

Four thousand seven hundred parents voiced opinions on Hernando County schools this year, nearly doubling survey participation. While most results held steady from 2025, parents overwhelmingly approved of learning environments, jumping to 90% positive responses.
Communications Director Aaron Ellerman drove the surge, revamping the survey for brevity and engagement. These efforts yielded higher positive feedback on school safety, crisis communication, and campus environment. However, students shared concerns: fewer than half saw relevance between lessons and the outside world or their future, and many expressed feeling a lack of belonging or peer support.
Employee surveys, also seeing a participation boost, painted a positive picture of school culture and supervisor support, despite a slight dip in local resident employees. The School Board heard these varied results on June 9. How will our district leaders respond to these critical insights?

Investors see ANOTHER return from Masterworks (!!!!)
That’s 6 sales in 7 months. 29 all time. And the performance?
16.5%, 17.6%, and 17.8%, net annualized returns on sold works held longer than one year (See all 29 at Masterworks.com)
It’s not from stocks, private equity, or real estate… it’s from contemporary and post war art. Crazy, right?
With Masterworks, you don’t need to be a BILLIONAIRE to invest in multi-million dollar art anymore.
Historically, the segment overall has had attractive appreciation and low correlation to stocks.*
Masterworks targets works featuring legends like Banksy, Basquiat, and Picasso, identifying what they believe to have significant long-term appreciation potential, not just at the artist level but at the level of individual artworks.
As one of the largest players in the art market, with $1.3 billion invested over 500 artworks, they pass critical advantages through to their 70,000+ members to add art to their portfolios strategically.
