Hernando Commissioners Unanimously Approve Rezoning Petition for Cortez Crossing Subdivision
Hernando Sun (Feed)
Your Hernando County Commissioners just paved the way for a major commercial shift right here in Spring Hill. On July 7, they voted 4-0 to overhaul zoning for 12.53 acres at the Cortez Crossing Subdivision, along Nature Coast Boulevard, just west of I-75. This unanimous decision expands permitted uses from C-4 to include heavy highway commercial, light industrial, and more, impacting businesses like Hernando Investments Inc., Hitek Truss, and Black Diamond Coatings.
Commissioner John Allocco pushed for an 8-foot screening requirement for outdoor storage and, critically, banned mini-storage facilities from the site entirely. With a local contractor already eyeing lots between Microtel Inn and Suites and Black Diamond Coatings, what kind of new businesses will flock to our key corridor with these changes?

Flock Cameras and Data Centers: The Foundation of Mass Surveillance
Hernando Sun (Feed)
Hernando County Commissioner District 4 candidate Marvin Baynham wants you to look closer at those Flock cameras around town. He says they're more than just public safety tools. Baynham argues these cameras feed data centers, storing your license plate, location, dates, and times. That data, he warns, could trace where you work, your kids' school, even your doctor's visits. He calls it a foundation for mass surveillance.
Baynham demands clear answers for citizens: Who accesses this system? How long is information kept? Are your movements being tracked without an accusation of crime? He believes the time to place limits on surveillance is now, before temporary tools become permanent infrastructure.

Hernando County Wins and Impact of the Recent Legislative Session
Hernando Sun (Feed)
Spring Hill residents, listen up! Hernando County just scored big. Director Dominique Holmes announced $3,850,000 in state funding and crucial policy wins. This includes major relief for families near Nature Coast Technical High School and Chocachatti Elementary, as new rules target landspreading biosolids at the Appalachian Material Services (AMS) site. County Administrator Jeff Rogers says "relief is in sight."
But that's not all. A $1 million state boost for the Public Safety Training Center and a massive $13,600,000 federal grant, secured by Carla Rossiter-Smith, will reshape the airport. Plus, expect changes along County Line Road, with widening efforts from Mariner Boulevard to Suncoast Parkway. How will these huge investments and new regulations directly impact your home and commute?

Sheriff explains enhanced services as Brooksville City Council contemplates contract
Hernando Sun (Feed)
A huge decision is looming for Brooksville City Council, and it could change how law enforcement operates right next door. Councilman Louis Hallal wants to terminate their contract with the Hernando County Sheriff's Office by 2027, potentially saving Brooksville $655,333 annually. Sheriff Al Nienhuis just released a video warning residents about losing dedicated deputies, faster response times, and critical proactive patrols.
But this isn't just about Brooksville. The HCSO's District 1 office, where every deputy assigned outside Spring Hill reports, is located there. If the contract ends, those deputies' shift briefings could move, removing their regular travel and visibility through Brooksville. How might this ripple effect impact law enforcement presence and response times in Spring Hill?

Nature Coast News (FB Page)
Spring Hill boaters, listen up. Our Gulf waters are getting dangerous. A Small Craft Advisory takes effect 8 AM Sunday, bringing hazardous conditions right to our coastline. We're talking waves churning up to 4 to 7 feet, fueled by south winds gusting strong, up to 30 knots.

15% Off Your First Order of Fresh-Roasted Pods

Most K-Cups sit in a warehouse for months before they reach your brewer — and you can taste it. Angelino's, a third-generation roaster in Los Angeles, does it differently: every pod is roasted, ground, and sealed fresh in-house, then shipped to your door within days of roasting.

Choose from 50+ specialty coffees — single origins, dark roasts, flavored favorites like Jamaican Me Crazy, plus decafs and teas — all compatible with your Keurig® brewer. Mix and match any coffees you like, and watch the savings climb: bulk discounts start at 5+ boxes and reach up to 34% off at 12+.

And here's the best part: new customers get an extra 15% off their first order, on top of bulk savings. It's applied automatically at checkout — no code, no subscription required. Free shipping on orders over $49 or 4+ boxes.

Fresh coffee shouldn't require a coffee shop.
