Spring Hill keeps stacking wins this week. Nature Coast Technical High School lifters turned heads at the State Meet with multiple top finishes, while Pasco-Hernando State College stunned the top seed to capture its second straight state baseball championship.

At the same time, Weeki Wachee High hosted the largest Special Olympics Culminating Event the district has ever seen, bringing together student-athletes from schools across Hernando County for a day built around teamwork, inclusion, and community pride.

And heading into the weekend, the calendar is absolutely loaded. The Hernando County Blueberry Festival kicks off, live music is everywhere, blackberry picking is back, comedy shows are filling seats, and there’s everything from trivia nights to drag racing happening across the county.

This is one of those weekends where staying home almost feels statistically irresponsible.

Our community’s powerlifters flexed serious muscle at the State Meet today, bringing home impressive finishes that made NCT proud. Justin Delery led the charge, securing second place in both Olympic and Traditional categories — a double-medal performance highlighting the team's exceptional talent.

Fellow NCT lifter Jayden Monroe also showed formidable strength, earning a fourth-place finish in Traditional. Vincent Susca wasn't far behind, landing fifth in the same intense competition, while Jason Turner rounded out the team's efforts with an eleventh-place finish among the state's top athletes. These results truly showcase the dedication our local lifters poured into their training, representing our community with distinction on a statewide stage.

Record participation recently surged at Weeki Wachee High, as student-athletes from across the Hernando County School District gathered for the Third Annual Special Olympics Culminating Event. This year marked the largest gathering yet, bringing together students and their unified partners from Weeki Wachee High, Hernando High, Central High, Fox Chapel Middle School, and Winding Waters K-8 for an inclusive and inspiring experience.

Attendees built strong connections, demonstrated impressive teamwork, and proudly celebrated their collective achievements. Organizers highlighted the dedication and sportsmanship displayed by all student-athletes and coaches, calling the event a resounding success for the entire district.

Officials are already making plans to continue this cherished tradition, with goals to welcome even more schools for the 2026–2027 school year. How will our community continue to expand these vital opportunities and celebrate the accomplishments of our student-athletes?

Twice As Nice: PHSC Bobcats Stun Top Seed To Snag Back-To-Back State Titles

Stunning the top-seeded Lake-Sumter State College, our Pasco-Hernando State College Bobcats clinched their second consecutive state baseball championship this past weekend. The team fought through tough rain delays and extra innings, securing a gritty 3-1 victory in the FCSAA Division II Region 8 State Championship game.

This hard-earned triumph wasn't easy; the Bobcats navigated challenging weather and extended play to beat a top-ranked rival. Their remarkable performance officially re-establishes them as the kings of Florida junior college baseball once again, a testament to their resilience and skill in securing back-to-back titles.

With two consecutive championships and such a gritty victory in the books, what challenges will these local champions overcome next to defend their reign?
