Eight local students just got a big boost for their theatre dreams, as Stage West awarded scholarships following a busy June 10th meeting. This news comes alongside a packed summer schedule, kicking off with a free "Red, White, and Blues Brothers Community Block Party" on June 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., open to everyone.
This family-friendly block party promises food trucks, vendors, karaoke, and performances, including a sneak peek of their summer youth show, "Seussical Jr.," and excerpts from their hit musical "1776." Expect appearances by the Pine Island Sound Steel Drum Band, a fire truck, and even a sheriff’s cruiser. Later that evening, catch the popular "Jake and Elwood Blues Brothers Revue" for $40. Stage West also welcomed its new Board of Directors, with Dalton Benson stepping in as President.
Beyond the block party, the summer calendar features the "Seussical Jr." youth production July 23-26 and the popular New Works Festival August 21-23, showcasing plays by local, often award-winning, playwrights. With new leadership and a calendar full of performances and community engagement, how will Stage West's renewed energy shape our local arts scene this summer?
Hernando County Government (FB Page)
Hernando County leaders are considering hitting the brakes on new data centers, with a proposed moratorium topping Tuesday's County Commission agenda. Commissioners will hold a public hearing on an ordinance that could halt processing applications for data center development permits for up to 365 days, potentially reshaping local land use regulations.
Beyond the data center discussion, commissioners will tackle other critical issues shaping our community's future. They plan to review an application supporting a countywide water conservation and quality protection program and discuss a five-year capital improvement plan running through 2031. Expect updates on a new public library master plan, House Bill 399 affecting land use, and a nearly $300,000 contract for county fire station prototypes.
Will Hernando County pump the brakes on development, secure crucial water funding, or chart a new course for local infrastructure? Find out what decisions leadership makes this Tuesday, June 23, at 9:00 am in the Hernando County Courthouse.

Firefighters arrived at the Texas Roadhouse Saturday night only to find the reported commercial structure fire already out. Hernando County Fire Rescue responded to the 12935 Cortez Boulevard location, situated in the parking lot near Beacon Brooksville Cinemas. Crews quickly confirmed no remaining hazards, deeming the situation safe with no further public threat. Thankfully, nobody reported injuries from the incident.
Authorities provided no details on any property damage, leaving the full extent of the fire's impact unclear. After a swift investigation, fire crews officially cleared the scene and turned it over to the restaurant's owners. This quick resolution, with the fire already extinguished upon arrival, sparks curiosity: what started the blaze that fizzled out so fast, and what lingering questions remain for our local Texas Roadhouse?

The Last Time Stocks Were This Expensive Was December 1999.
"Right now, it's good. But it was in '72, '86, 2000, and 2007." - Jamie Dimon, May 2026.
The Shiller CAPE ratio just hit 42.3. The only time in 140 years it's been higher? December 1999.
Stocks can stay expensive for a long time...
It’s one metric to consider, but when your portfolio is built around the most expensive equities in modern history, what else you diversify with could really matter.
Blue-chip contemporary and post war art has shown near-zero correlation with the S&P since 1995.* Prices are largely driven by private collectors competing for a fixed supply of artwork by artists like Banksy, Basquiat, and Picasso.
Masterworks lets you invest in shares of that market.
$1.3B deployed across 500+ artworks
29 exits to date
Net annualized returns like 16.5%, 17.6%, and 17.8%, not including those unsold
