News & Information
Hernando County Sheriff (FB Page)
Hernando County residents, a major scam alert is sweeping our community. Callers are pretending to be from the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, claiming you've missed jury duty or a court date. They're telling people there's a "bench warrant" for their arrest, demanding payment over the phone to clear it.
These sophisticated scammers are even spoofing HCSO phone numbers and leaving official-sounding voicemails from "Sergeants" or "Lieutenants." The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office makes it clear: they will never require payment over the phone to settle a warrant. Have you already received one of these calls, or are you prepared if your phone rings next?
Nature Coast News (FB Page)
Flames erupted Friday, June 26, near the 11000 block of Lomita Wren Road in Weeki Wachee. Hernando County Fire Rescue crews rushed to the scene just after 4:30 p.m., battling a brush fire spanning 100 feet by 100 feet. They swiftly contained the blaze, preventing injuries and damage to any homes.
But the cause? Investigators confirmed a firework ignited the entire incident. With the Florida Forest Service now handling follow-up, what does this close call mean for local fire safety, especially as we head deeper into summer?

The 250th anniversary of American independence is almost here, and Hernando County is going BIG. Fireworks, a drone show, AND 250 veterans marching are planned for the FREE "Salute to America 250" on July 4th. Gates open at 4 p.m. at Sand Hill Scout Reservation, 11210 Cortez Blvd., Brooksville, with 100 local vendors, family fun, and live music. Commissioner Steve Champion says it's about "bringing a whole community together."
Want more options? Catch the 4th of July Demolition Derby at Hernando County Fairgrounds, 6436 Broad St., Brooksville (derby tickets separate). Or join the Heroes Boat Parade at 1 p.m. from Hernando Beach Yacht Club. How will Spring Hill residents celebrate this once-in-a-lifetime milestone right here at home?

The ballot is locked for Hernando County's school board races. Three incumbents face fierce challenges. In District 5, Susan Duval defends her seat against Kara Champion, daughter of Commissioner Steve Champion, who leads fundraising with $11,700. Her father and his gun shop each donated $1,000. Duval loaned herself $2,000.
District 1 pits Mark Johnson against retired Springstead High principal Dana Lynne Pearce, while Vice Chair Shannon Rodriguez has raised $30,350 for District 3, largely self-funded. Luciano Vignali is challenging her, advocating for teacher pay. With qualifying closed June 12, who will voters pick for these crucial $47,403 annual positions?
Hernando County Government (FB Page)
Today, June 27, is your chance to snag a new library card, register to vote, or even donate blood right here in Spring Hill! Hernando County Government and Hernando County Tax Collector Amy L. Blackburn are hosting a massive Community Resource Fair and Ribbon Cutting for the Spring Hill Office.
Head down to 7701 Forest Oaks Blvd. between 9:00am and 11:00am. You can explore health resources from the Florida Department of Health, grab a bite from food trucks, enjoy a DJ, and find plenty for the kids to do. What local services have you been meaning to check out?

The Last Time Stocks Were This Expensive Was December 1999.
"Right now, it's good. But it was in '72, '86, 2000, and 2007." - Jamie Dimon, May 2026.
The Shiller CAPE ratio just hit 42.3. The only time in 140 years it's been higher? December 1999.
Stocks can stay expensive for a long time...
It’s one metric to consider, but when your portfolio is built around the most expensive equities in modern history, what else you diversify with could really matter.
Blue-chip contemporary and post war art has shown near-zero correlation with the S&P since 1995.* Prices are largely driven by private collectors competing for a fixed supply of artwork by artists like Banksy, Basquiat, and Picasso.
Masterworks lets you invest in shares of that market.
$1.3B deployed across 500+ artworks
29 exits to date
Net annualized returns like 16.5%, 17.6%, and 17.8%, not including those unsold
