Independence Day is here, and Spring Hill, along with the rest of Hernando County, is ready to celebrate America's 250th birthday in a big way. From High Point 55+ Golf Community's 9 AM parade down High Point Boulevard, complete with dunk tanks and Smokin’ Oak Pizza, to Wellington at Seven Hills' 9:30 AM driving parade featuring classic cars and a speech by former Brooksville Mayor Blake Bell, there's something for everyone.
Want to hit the water? The Hernando Beach Yacht Club launches its boat parade at 1 PM, led by Hernando County Administrator Jeff Rogers. Or perhaps you're looking for fireworks and a drone show? Sand Hill Scout Reservation has you covered at 9:15 PM, alongside 100+ vendors and a Veterans march. With so many choices, how will you ring in the Fourth?

Hernando County Supervisor of Elections Denise LaVancher just announced key dates for the August 18, 2026 Primary Election. Vote-by-Mail ballots for domestic voters in Spring Hill begin mailing Thursday, July 9, 2026. Military and overseas voters will receive theirs even earlier, starting July 2.
Still need to request your ballot? The deadline is approaching fast: Thursday, August 6, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. You can visit HernandoVotes.gov or call 352-754-4125. But do you know the critical details about returning your ballot and avoiding common mistakes?

With more people outside today watching and lighting fireworks, keep an eye out for the local wildlife. A rabies alert just dropped for a major chunk of our community, directly affecting those in the Dade City area of Hernando County. DOH-Hernando issued the warning after a confirmed rabies case surfaced in a cat off Westwood Drive on June 29, 2026. This isn't just about stray animals; the wild population is a known carrier right now.
The alert lasts 60 days and stretches from Coral Rock Drive down to Old Trilby Road, and Lower Lake Road/McKinney Sink Road over to Nature Coast Boulevard/Highway 75. Do you know if your home is inside this zone? Your pets need immediate protection, and there are specific steps you must take if you or an animal has contact with wildlife.
